The Crags Campground
     

      The Crags Campground is located about 60 miles west of Fort Collins in the Colorado State Forest. It is up a narrow, winding road at an elevation of about 9,800 feet. This campground is not recommended for trailers. Tents or truck campers are best used here. There area is fairly steep but the campsites are level. The one way loop, nestled among dense spruce trees, contains 26 campsites. None of the sites has defined tent pads. Facilities include a vault toilet and a water hydrant. The campsites are well spaced and provide good privacy. You get great views of the surrounding mountain peaks. Reservations are accepted.

Activities:
FISHING: Fishing for trout is available in Joe Wright Reservoir and Zimmerman Lake.

HIKING: The MontgomeryPass and ZimmermanLake trails are located about 3 miles east on Highway 14.

WILDLIFE VIEWING: There is an abundance of wildlife for your viewing pleasure.

Directions:
     
Take Highway 287 north from Fort Collins to Laporte. Continue on Highway 287 to Highway 14. Travel west on 14 for about 58 miles over Cameron Pass to the Crags Campground turnoff. Turn left (south) and travel about 1.3 miles up the winding road to the campground.
