Spruce Grove Campground
     

      The Spruce Grove Campground is located about 14 miles northwest of the town of Lake George at an elevation of 8,600 feet. There are 27 campsites, most of which are situated around a large loop in an un-shaded field. There are eight walk-in tent sites along Tarryall Creek. Two are on the near side and six are across the creek. These sites offer pleasant, secluded settings. There are two vault toilets and a water hydrant at each end of the campground. Most of the campsites are back-in parking that will accommodate small to medium sized RVs. All of the sites have good views of the interesting rock formations on the surrounding hillsides. Reservations are not accepted at this campground. Open May through October.

Activities:

FISHING: Fishing for trout is available in Tarryall Creek or nearby Tarryall Reservoir.


HIKING: Trails lead from the campground into the Lost Creek Wilderness.

GOLD PANNING AND GEM HUNTING: Campers can pan for gold in Tarryall Creek or dig for Topaz at the nearby Topaz Mountain Gem Mine.

Directions:
     
Take Highway 24 northwest from Lake George for one mile to County Road 77. Travel approximately 12 miles north on 77 through Tarryall City to reach the campground.
