Pines Campground
     

     

The Pines Campground is located about 84 miles west of Fort Collins about three miles south of Highway 14 at Gould. This single loop campground is situated in a stand of lodgepole pines just north of the South Fork of the MichiganRiver at an elevation of 9,200 feet. There are eleven campsites with a maximum spur length of 22 feet. Pack or saddle stock are not permitted in the campground. The sites are well shaded by lodgepole pines. Facilities include one vault toilet and a water pump. Each site has a picnic table and fire grate. These campsites are more suited for tents or small RVs and trailers. There are no defined tent pads. The road through the campground is dirt. This relatively primitive campground offers a peaceful spot near a mountain stream. Reservations are not accepted at this campground.

FISHING: Fishing for trout is available in the South Fork of the Michigan River .

HIKING: There are numerous trails in the Colorado State Forest to hike.

BIKING: Forest roads offer opportunities for biking.

WILDLIFE VIEWING : There is an abundance of wildlife for your viewing pleasure.

Directions:
     
Take Highway 287 north from Fort Collins to Laporte. Continue on Highway 287 to Highway 14. Travel west on 14 for 81 miles to Gould. Turn left (south) on County Road 21 / Forest Road 740 and travel about three miles to the campground.
