Echo Lake Campground
     

     Echo Lake Campground is located about 14 miles from Idaho Springs just off State Route 103 at an elevation of 10,600 feet. The campground is situated in a stand of spruce trees. There are 18 sites in the campground. Eleven are suitable for RV camping and 7 are more suitable for tents. Most of the sites are well wooded. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring or grate. The maximum vehicle length that can be accommodated is 55 feet.
     The roads through the campground are dirt. There is one water hydrant and two restrooms. None of the restrooms will accommodate disabled persons. Reservations are accepted and can be made 5 - 240 days in advance. The season for this campground normally runs from June through mid September, depending on the weather. Check with the Forest Service for the current fees.

Activities:
FISHING: Fishing for trout is available in Echo Lake, Idaho Springs Reservoir and several local streams.

HIKING: Hiking is available on the nearby Captain Mountain, Rest House, and Chicago Lakes trails. The Captain Mountain Trailhead is located on the east side of the campground.

SIGHT SEEING: Take the Mount Evans Highway for a great scenic drive.

Directions:
     Take I-70 to Idaho Springs (exit for SR103). Travel south on SR103 for approximately 14 miles to Echo Lake Park. Turn right on SR5. The campground is immediately on the left.
