Dowdy Lake Campground
     

    

     Dowdy Lake Campground is located near Red Feather Lakes at an elevation of 8,120 feet. The campground is situated around the southeast shore of Dowdy Lake. There are 62 sites in the campground. Forty eight are suitable for RV camping and fourteen are more suitable for tents. Most of the sites are in wooded areas. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring or grate. The maximum vehicle length that can be accommodated is 40 feet.
     The roads through the campground are packed dirt. There are 3 water hydrants and 4 restrooms. None of the restrooms will accommodate disabled persons. Reservations are accepted and can be made 5 - 240 days in advance. Some of the larger sites are double fee sites. The season for this campground normally runs from mid May through September, depending on the weather. Check with the Forest Service for the current fees.

Activities:
FISHING: Fishing for trout is available in Dowdy, West, and Parvin Lakes.

HIKING: Hiking is available on nearby Mount Margaret and Molly Lake trails.

BICYCLING: Bicycling is available on several jeep roads and on the Mount Margaret Trail.

BOATING: Both motorized and non-motorized boating is available on Dowdy Lake.

Directions:
     
Take Highway 287 north from Fort Collins to Laporte. Continue on 287 north to Livermore. Turn west on 74E for 25 miles to Red Feather Lakes and the turn off. Turn right and travel .5 miles to the entrance. Turn right into the campground.
